Slice of Life #9- Pointe

Some people know that I am a competition dancer, but not a lot of people know that I do a lot of ballet. Currently, the most ballet I do a week is 8 ½ hours a week. Yes, 8 ½ HOURS A WEEK! Doing ballet for 8 ½ hours a week can be pretty tiring, but the thing that tires me the most is POINTE! Pointe is when you are dancing on a special type of shoe that makes you look like you are dancing on your toes. Prima Ballerinas make it look effortless and it looks like it doesn’t hurt at all, but the truth is….

IT HURTS SO MUCH!!!

I’ve been on pointe for about a year and I can feel my feet starting to shrivel away. (I’m exaggerating that) You work so hard to get pointe shoes, then when your teacher says yes and you do your first class, you will start to regret it. BUT, after a few classes, you will start to be normal. The other thing that also hurts so bad is when your pointe shoes are dead. No, they aren’t choking on the floor. It means that they are so overused that they start to break. I am going to stop writing because I have NO IDEA how to finish this post 🙂

Slice of Life #8- Wonders

I have done this before and I thought it was fun, so I am doing it again!

Wonder’s of a 6th Grader!

1.Why do we stop having recess in middle school/ I know we still have P.AT time, but for 10 minutes? Once a week? In my opinion, that is going to make us more crazy and unruly. All we want to do is let out some of our unneeded crazy energy.

2.Why can’t what we pick what we want to during P.E? Not a lot of people play things like hockey and you don’t know if they enjoy it too. During P.E, we should be able to practice our sport instead of doing sports that we don’t even like? Doesn’t that make sense?

3.What’s the point of being popular? What is it going to get you myself in life. It isn’t going to help us get into a good college or become the President of the United States. After we finish High School, College, etc, it would never really help us in our adult life.

Slice of Life #7- Funny Story

Over the weekend on Saturday,my dad had gotten a good “report card” at work, which is where they get judged on how much work and how good it is and make some sort of a grade and his was kind of an A+. On Saturday, my mom surprised him and we took him to an oyster place in Leesburg. When we got there, we did the normal thing and we waited for a table. When we were seated, we did the normal thing and looked at the menu and ordered a drink, all that stuff. While I was looking around the room, I saw someone, someone that everyone at this school knows. Who was it? MR.PHILLIPS!! I was sitting next to my sister and we were both saying oh no because it’s awkward to see teachers or principals outside of school. Then when I looked over there again, I noticed another person, Ms. Nathan. Then I noticed ANOTHER person,(last one) a guy with a George Washington wig on !?! There table started to stand up to leave, so I decided to just turn my head and eat an oyster. They did not see me, but they did see my sister! Hope you thought that was kind of funny!

Slice of Life #6 – Tests

On this very day, I have to take 2 TESTS today!:( One in Science and one in Math. You know what also stinks, there right after the other! I have math 2nd block and science 3rd block. Usually, I wouldn’t really have a problem with having 2 tests in one day, but math and science are my worst subject. I love all the experiments we do in science, but I am not as good at retaining the information for it. For me, math can just be super boring and super hard sometimes.Comment down below if you have the same problem! 🙂

Slice of Life #5- Dancers

Dancers. When people think of them, they most likely think of girls wearing pink tutus, prancing around on there tippy toes.If you thought that, you are wrong. Yes, some people do that, but not most dancers. Dancer’s are that there studio’s 24/7. For example, On Saturdays, I am at my studio from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. Yes, that is 7 hours, dancer’s put there heart into what they do and they never give up. So if I were you, don’t underestimate us. Some people think we aren’t very strong. Again, That is a flat out a lie. We do crunches and sit ups and all the things you could imagine. We also have to work on our flexibility, which can be just as hard as doing crunches and push ups. Routines are cleaned and fixed for hours, week after week. You also have to do ballet classes which are several hours a week. I am in a special program which gives me an extra 5 ish hours a week. I could go on and on about all the things it takes to be a good dancer, but I am not. Sorry this is kind of a weird post, but I hope you liked it!

Slice of Life #4- Loki

By the title of this post, you most likely have no idea what I am talking about.Well, now you will. Loki is the name of my sweet little precious angel(most of the time), my dog. My parents got him for the family for my mom’s birthday, which is in December. He is a black cocker spaniel and he kind of has a racing stripe on his belly! We are currently trying to potty train him and he is getting much better, BUT he still does is business on the carpet sometimes!

Slice of Life #3- Habits

Here are 3 bad habits I have

1.Picking my nails

Whenever I get nervous, I tend to pick my nails. By looking at my nails, everyone would think I am a nervous Nelly! I have had this problem since before I could remember. As a baby I may have been picking at my nails because I was nervous my parents would never feed me again!

2.Braiding my hair

(To Teachers: Do not take any offense to this)

When I get really bored in class, I tend to just start braiding my hair without even knowing it. No offense to all of my teachers, class can be a little bit boring sometimes. Now I can braid my super fast from having practice in some of my classes.

  1. BInge watching shows

This usually occurs when I am looking for something to watch and I can’t find anything that is interesting, so I look on Netflix. Right now, I am watching Glee and I started it in the Beginning of the month, and now I am on Season 6 out of 6 seasons! With my very busy schedule, I am actually proud that I can find time in the day to watch it.

Slice of Life #2- Toe Story

Over a week ago, I did something to my right toe. In my 1st Tuesday Slice of Life blog post, I touched on what happened, but now, I am going to do the full story.I came home from a long day at school and from being at dance till 9:30 p.m, so I went straight to my bed to go sleep. Then at about 2 a.m, I woke up with and excruciating pain in my toe. It hurt SO much, but I decided not to get up to go wake up my parents. When I woke up that morning, my toe was PURPLE! Yes, PURPLE! So I went to go show my parents immediately. My mom said to ice it and to take some pain killer before I go for another long day at dance. For the rest of the day, my toe was hurting so much, but I had to suck it up so I could still dance. This went on for a few days, thinking that it would just get better, but it never did. Three days ago, I finally asked my parents to go to the doctor. My mom scheduled an appointment during P.E so I wouldn’t have to do it. I went to the doctor and got an x-ray, which discovered what was wrong with it.

Slice of Life #1- Cabo’s Birthday

Today, March 1st, would be my old dog, Cabo’s birthday. To a lot of people wouldn’t really care, but he was important to me. HE was in my life for almost 11 years and he has been in my parents life for 17 years. He was one of the best dogs that I had ever met and I am not just saying that because he was my dog. He was so well behaved and he never bit anyone from the age of 1 year and up. He was the best 1st dog you could ever have have. Even though I have another dog now and I love him to death, but Cabo holds a very special place in my heart. Today would mark his 18th birthday and this is my 1st birthday without him.

RIP Cabo 🙁
